Executive Council

The Executive Council of the FA is the policy-making body of our union. It consists of the six at-large officers as well as 34 representatives elected by the membership every two years, as shown below.

In accordance with the the FA Constitution and Bylaws, in addition to meeting monthly to discuss the ongoing issues facing our members, EC reps make union policy; uphold the terms and condition of our contract and constitution & bylaws; authorize formal negotiations with the administration and county; approve various FA positions as well as committee appointments and committee charges; determine the number of delegates at local, state, and national conferences and conventions; approve the FA budget; certify election results; and so much more.

EC reps also help serve as the "eyes and ears" of the FA. Given the size of the institution, we need these leaders and activitists to stay in regular, frequent contact with the membership that drives our organization. EC reps should be speaking with and emailing their constituents several times a semester so they can bring issues and concerns to the fore during our monthly EC meetings and report results back to their constituents as needed as well as to share the monthly EC meeting notes with their constituency.

Serving as an EC rep is important college-wide service and counts toward college service for your promotion.

Contact FA Secretary Cynthia Eaton if you are interested in filling a vacancy on the EC and/or running for election. Half of the EC is up for election in even-numbered years, and the other half is up for election in odd-numbered years—as listed below for each position. All six FA officer positions and all three delegate positions are up for election in odd-numbered years.
